PSETA
website case
study
Public Sector Education and Training Australia (PSETA)
is a Government body responsible for the development and
maintenance of national competency standards by industry
and to advance the development and provision of education
and training conducted in accordance with those standards.
Brief
Apart from an overhaul of the site design, PSETA also required
the addition of new functionality. This was to allow their
clients to browse the qualification and units they offer,
as well as the ability to customise their own qualification
by choosing the elective units they wish to complete and
then for these units to be combined into a single PDF for
download.
Approach
Katalyst developed a “shopping cart” approach
to give site visitors the ability to add and remove elective
units from their qualification they were customising. The
user browse the list of available units (which were served
from a dynamic database server), add/edit/delete units to
the chosen qualification, then generate and download a single
PDF document containing all core and elective units chosen.
Result
The redeveloped website and its functionality have greatly
reduced the amount of contact time required between PSETA
staff and their clients. PSETA staff used to have to manually
combine the units chosen by clients when they contacted them
via phone or email, then email or post the resulting document
out to the client. Clients can access the PSETA information
24x7, browse and read up about all of PSETA’s qualifications,
then customise and download any qualification with the certainty
that the units they have selected are appropriate for their
chosen qualification.
