RAIA
case study
The Royal Australian Institute of Architecture Awards is an
annual event that recognises outstanding architectural achievements
throughout the year. In 2001 and 2002 Katalyst was approached
by Woodhead International to produce a video to kick off the
evening in spectacular style.
Brief
The brief for both years were simple, produce a visually stunning
video to open the awards nights, and convey the evening's
theme, which were "Sustainable Architecture" and
"Synesthia of the Senses" respectively.
Katalyst's role was to bring the static idea to life by developing
a concept that would convey the evening's message on the big
screen, and engage the audience with visuals and animation
choreographed to an exciting sound track.
Time was a major factor in both the 2001 and 2002 projects.
A short time frame meant the client's concept needed to be
grasped quickly, the project effectively scoped, planned and
storyboarded, and production undertaken efficiently to ensure
the desired results.
Results
Katalyst produced two high quality and visually stunning videos
which exceeded the client's expectations and wowed the audiences.
The end products and strong alliance built with the Woodhead
resulted in katalyst being re-approached to develop and produce
an in-house video promoting their architecture work to international
clients.
